If your CD sleeve is missing a serial number, contact your instructor immediately. He or she will provide you with a serial number label to affix to the CD sleeve in the back of the Instructions and Assignments book. The software will not load without a serial number.

Some students have difficulty accessing the Waren Sports Supply dataset. For these students, they likely did not follow the instructions on page 1–12 to load the Waren Sports Supply dataset from the CD. Follow the instructions on the top of page 1–12 to load the Waren dataset, which describe copying the Warsposu folder directly to the hard drive. This dataset needs to be loaded separately because it is an additional company developed by the authors. The other two companies used in the project, Bellwether Garden Supply and Stone Arbor Landscaping, were developed by Sage Software so they automatically load when the program installs.

If students receive a prompt to enter a Tax Registration ID while attempting to process payroll, they should ignore any steps suggested by Sage to update the payroll tables. In addition to answering any questions as if they want to ignore the payroll updates that Sage is attempting to download, students should mark any checkboxes that appear that say "do not show this window again" so that they do not have to continue receiving payroll update prompts in the future. These prompts appear simply because Sage attempts to make sure users have the most recent payroll tax tables. All necessary payroll tables for companies used in our book are already entered into the program at the correct amounts for this project.

Some users have had problems with Waren′s payroll and inventory module after they backup and restore the dataset. It does not happen to all users, and it only seems to happen when Waren is restored from a previous backup file. DO NOT DO THESE STEPS UNLESS YOU ARE USING A VERSION OF WAREN THAT HAS BEEN RESTORED FROM A BACKUP FILE! If any students get payroll and inventory error messages after restoring Waren from an earlier backup, they should do the following:

• Close the program.
• Navigate to the following path: C:\Program Files\Sage Software\Peachtree\Company\warsposu.
• Click on the Warsposu folder.
• Click on Type to organize the files by type.
• Delete the DDF files.
• Click on Name to organize files by name.
• Delete the Details file.

When Waren is opened again, these files will be rewritten. Sometimes they become corrupt during the backup/restore process, cause problems, and have to be refreshed. Note that if the problem happens again after a subsequent restore, repeat all of the above steps.
