Sage Peachtree Complete Accounting 2012 Tech Support

You would like to have the software installed in your school′s computer lab.

In order to have the software loaded in a lab setting, the instructor needs to contact Armond Dalton for permission. Each of your students will still need to purchase a newtextbook.

Issue #1—The program loads but Waren Sports Supply is not there.

Per the instructions on the top of page 1–15 of the Instructions book, Waren needs to be loaded separately from the CD in the back of the Instructions book. Sage′s two sample companies (Bellwether & Stone Arbor) load automatically when the program loads, but Waren is Armond Dalton′s dataset. Because it is our dataset, it has to be loaded manually after the program loads.

At the bottom of page 1–13, there is a place for you to record the install location of the program files, as well as the location where the company data files are kept. If you forgot to record this information when you installed, you can still find the proper location. The Company folder is in one of the following two locations, depending on your computer and operating system:

     c:\Sage\Peachtree\Company or

     c:\Program Files*\Sage\Peachtree\Company

*Note: On some computers it is Program Files (x86) instead of Program Files.

First close the Peachtree software if it is open. Next, you should locate the Company folder mentioned above. After you find where the Company folder is on your hard drive, simply copy the entire “warsposu” folder from the Peachtree CD to the Company folder. Note that you should not open the “warsposu” folder at all; just copy the entire folder to the Company folder.

When you have completed the above steps, this is what should appear on your hard drive, depending on your computer and your operating system:

c:\Sage\Peachtree\Company\warsposu or

     c:\Program Files*\Sage\Peachtree\Company

*or Program Files (x86)

Issue #2—Students receive a prompt to enter a Tax Registration ID when attempting to access payroll.

peachtreebundle2012If students receive a prompt to enter a Tax Registration ID while attempting to process payroll, they should ignore any steps suggested by Sage to update the payroll tables. In addition to answering any questions as if they want to ignore the payroll updates that Sage is attempting to download, students should mark any checkboxes that appear that say “do not show this window again” so that they do not have to continue receiving payroll update prompts in the future. These prompts appear simply because Sage attempts to make sure users have the most recent payroll tax tables. All necessary payroll tables for companies used in our book are already entered into the program at the correct amounts for this project.

Having any issue with Peachtree? (You tried everything else)

If you are having trouble with Peachtree in any way, there are two possible solutions that are very easy to do.

POSSIBLE SOLUTION #1—Overrides general usage to give you “super powers”.

  • Put your cursor on the Peachtree desktop icon.
  • RIGHT click on that icon.
  • A menu will appear.
  • Scroll down to “Run as administrator”.

Proceed with working with Peachtree. You will need to do this each homework session.

POSSIBLE SOLUTION #2—Fool your computer operating system into being another operating system.

  • Put your cursor on the Peachtree desktop icon.
  • RIGHT click on that icon.
  • A menu will appear.
  • Scroll down to Properties at the bottom of the menu.
  • A new menu will appear.
  • Select the “Compatibility” tab.
  • Under Compatibility mode check the box next to “Run this program in compatibility mode for”.
  • In the menu below this command, highlight Windows XP (or any other operating system).
  • Save that setting.

If that does not solve your problem, try another operating system. Be sure to do this each homework session.
