Although Macs are used widely in the creative world, the Windows Operating System is the standard in business environments. As such, many business applications do not run natively on a Mac. We as the publisher are limited by the software that is provided by the accounting software companies, such as Intuit and Sage Software.
However, you can run Windows on a Mac using Boot Camp. All Macs from 2013 forward have Boot Camp automatically loaded on the system. You will need to obtain a copy of Windows to install on your Mac. You should check with your professor to see if your school has a volume license or a DreamSpark Premium subscription, allowing you to purchase Windows at a discount. If neither option is available, you can purchase an inexpensive copy of Windows online. Note that Windows 7 is adequate, and is even preferred in some cases (Sage 50 textbook).
